Our History
The origins of Scleroderma Atlantic began when Mary Beth Clark started hosting scleroderma support groups through the Arthritis Society in 1989. Mary Beth went on to become a founder of Scleroderma Canada in 1999.
In 2010, Halifax hosted the Scleroderma Canada conference. This conference brought dedicated regional volunteers together who launched the Scleroderma Society of Nova Scotia, which was incorporated in 2013.
In May of 2020, the society undertook a large expansion to form Scleroderma Atlantic. Our society is committed to providing education, advocacy, support, and resources to all of the Atlantic Provinces which include Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador.

Jason Doucette is President of Scleroderma Atlantic and past president of Scleroderma Canada. He has been involved with the organization since 2013. Jason volunteers his time and efforts in memory of his mother, Linda, who passed away with scleroderma in 2012.
Michelle Richard

Michelle Richard is a past president of Scleroderma Canada. While in her 30s, she was diagnosed with diffuse systemic scleroderma.
Michelle strives to create more awareness of the disease and to provide advocacy for those living with scleroderma.
Theresa Henneberry

Theresa Henneberry is Treasurer of Scleroderma Atlantic. She has been involved with the organization since its inception and believes in its core values and mission. Theresa volunteers in memory of her mother, Marie, who passed away with scleroderma in 2007.

Stephanie Adshade is Administrative Manager of Scleroderma Atlantic. She has been involved with the organization since her daughter was diagnosed with scleroderma and has been an active member and volunteer ever since.
